August Blue Flowers

August Blue

This was a very memorable wedding from August last summer. It started off as a very wet day in Killarney where Karen and Kevin chose to say their vows in Fossa church. I remember standing outside the church in the pouring rain waiting for Karen to arrive from Cork so that I could give her bouquet before she walked down the Isle. She looked absolutely stunning and was not fazed at all by the rain.

Tea for two

This was one of the most memorable weddings for me in 2013. It was a magnificent summers day in July and was  the same day that the ring of Kerry charity Cycle race was on. Which meant that we were caught in the middle of it, as Kathryn and Jonny  had chosen the beautiful town of Kenmare for their ceremony with the reception afterwards held at Dromquinna Manor.

Bridal bouquet

Kathryn’s garden flower bouquet

Kathryn had 7 bridesmaids! Each wore a different dress with mad floral designs and colours. Really different and fun! The flowers were a combination selection of summer blooms in all colours from yellow sunflowers, ivory and coral peonies, pink hydrangea,  blue Delphiniums, red roses, white daisies and wild foliage’s such as honeysuckle . Kathryn was great to work with as she was very trusting gave me free rein.

The boutonnieres were made up of Lavender and rosemary sprigs tied together with Raffia. Very casual and tied in well with the relaxed style of bouquets and arrangements.

The ceremony was held in Kenmare Church. We had galvanised buckets filled with wild flowers and colourful garden blooms. Little buckets on the pew ends and larger ones at the back of the Altar. The Altar arrangement was done in a wooden box instead of the traditional Altar piece.

I loved the working on these centrepieces. Kathryn’s family had been collecting little bottles and  jam jars. They had  stuck on little bits of hessian cloth and little lace bows and details on the jars before giving them to me to fill with flowers.

Gerberas & Butterflies

Shelly and Patrick opted for a spring wedding in Early March. The ceremony was held at Fires church in Co Kerry with the reception held in the Ballyrow Hotel in Tralee. Shelly wanted something really colourful to compliment her bridesmaid dress, which was a cerise pink colour. Gerberas seemed to be the perfect match and also one of Shelly’s favourite flowers, so it was a perfect fit.

The bridal bouquet was simple with white gerberas with diamante. The bridesmaid bouquet had all the coloured gerbera, orange, yellow and cerise. Shelly also had two flower girls and here we went with a couple of wands with mini gerbera.

The church was simply decorated with a large altar arrangement. For the pew ends we used a single colourful gerbera on every second pew end. Outside the church we had two spiral topiary trees with mini gerberas. We added two lanterns for a bit of candle light.

For the reception tables, we used glass fishbowls with mixed gerberas and butterflies.

Killarney Cathedral Wedding

Ed and Dee, good friends of ours from Cork, chose to get married in the majestic Killarney Cathedral. Dee liked the idea of a tight hand held bouquet of roses. We decided to add in a bit of colour as her bridesmaids dresses had a pale pink hue to them so we went with ivory, pale pink, medium pink and a deep pink.

The roses were a mix of Dolce, Amelia, Vandella & Heaven and we added in a few Rananculas . To finish off the bouquet we added in some bling, a few diamante to pick up on her earings.

Wedding Dress & Bouquet

For the church we used lots of colour and added in some lime green hydrangeas wich really accentuated the pink tones. We also used our little pew buckets which were re-used at the Cahernane Hotel reception afterwards.

P.S. I have to mention Dee’s shoes here, they were fabulous and she kept them all night on the dance floor!

For her bridesmaid we went with just roses and for the flower girl a pale pink pomander using crysanths.

The church flowers were mainly the avalanche roses with white orchids (dendrobium). We used two bay trees filled with avalanche roses at the entrance to the church and a single rose on each pew end.
